Here we go again. Another hectic day with one activity after another, and not enough energy to do it. Just can't seem to shake this nagging cold, and the job and daily grind continue to create even more stress. Totally exhausted by the end of the day with the stress of realizing the endless cycle will continue again tomorrow.

Does this scenario sound familiar?

The truth is, no matter where we are financially or spiritually, without good health, we will never be able to fully obtain the Abundant Life that we both desire and deserve. Personal well-being is so vital to life that without it, life would be almost impossible to truly enjoy.

On top of the ordinary everyday stresses that confront us, there is the constant underlying fear of coming down with a life-threatening disease. Cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and a multitude of other debilitating physical maladies still affect much of the population in one way or another.

Confronted with what seems to be ever-increasing health problems related to poor diets, lack of physical exercise, and constant stress, it has become more important than ever that everyone develop some form of personal health plan.

Does a personal health plan need to be some strict cookie cutter regiment that must be followed to the tee?   Absolutely not!

In fact, better results will be accomplished by having a tailored diet and fitness plan that takes into account the needs and wants of each individual.

With that said, there are still some basic fundamentals that need to be observed with any personal diet and fitness program:

  • A majority of our diet should consist of high portions of complex carbohydrates, medium portions of high-protein foods, and small amounts of essential fats.
  • A regular fitness program that consists of ample stretching and stress on all the major muscle groups.
  • A regular fitness routine that will maintain an elevated heart rate for at least 30 to 40 minutes per session.
  • A diet that derives a majority of its calories and nutrition from natural foods and supplements.
  • A daily practice of some form of meditation to help reduce stress.

What's the best health plan for me?

With the abundance of information concerning health and fitness now available, how does someone decide what's best for their own personal health plan? Who has time to sift through the entire amount of diet and fitness information now available, and determine the best fundamental fitness routines and eating plans that will bring the best results?

Fortunately, there are individuals who've made proper nutrition and fitness their life purposes. Most of these individuals have been involved in health and fitness most of their lives, and many others have found solutions to serious health issues.   Fortunately, these health conscious individuals now wish to share their valuable lessons with others.

My own personal research into health and fitness has made me aware of some valuable resources. I am personally grateful for the vast amount of valuable health and fitness information available in today's society, and would like to introduce you to a few resources I have uncovered in my own research.

For those of us who are either pushing 40 or already on the other side, a wonderful e-book titled "Fit Over 40" may be just what the doctor ordered. Co-author and creator Jon Benson, along with co-author Tom Venuto have put together an incredible resource that not only provides vital information for conditioning the mind and body, but also includes inspirational stories of people in their 40’s, 50’s, 60’s, and over 70’s who "blow the doors off" what is possible, both physically and mentally.

Proper lifestyle habits concerning diet and exercise are key to wellbeing and longevity

As we have all heard, one of the biggest keys to personal well-being and longevity is to maintain a healthy weight with a relatively low bodyfat-to-muscle ratio.   Most of us have also tried some form of "fad diet" at one time or another to try and lose that extra weight. Unfortunately, many people who come off of these "fad diets" soon gain back all their previous weight and more, and their bodyfat-to-muscle composition actually goes up!

True-optimum body weight management and physical fitness are the result of proper lifestyle choices concerning our eating habits and physical training.

Does this mean you have to eat tasteless foods and spend hours at the gym?   Absolutely not!

Proper eating habits involve being more aware of the foods we eat, and what affects they’ll have on our bodies. With a better understanding of the foods we eat, we can make healthier food choices that not only taste good, but also actually help our bodies to lose fat and increase metabolism to maintain our optimum body weight.

Along with proper eating habits, optimum health also requires some form of physical activity that both helps maintain muscle mass and increases metabolism.  

Fortunately, any activity that provides some form of cardiovascular training and muscle stretching is very beneficial. While many prefer a regular gym routine for physical activity, various activities such as skiing, hiking, tennis, volleyball, and martial arts training are also excellent alternatives for creating the cardiovascular stimulation our bodies require for optimum health.

Resistance training for boosting metabolism and firming up

Sometimes it is both desirable and even necessary to truly firm up and put on some muscle mass. Research indicates that there appears to be a direct correlation between the muscle-to-fat ratio and the metabolism of an individual. Basically, the more muscle mass a person has means that individual will have a higher metabolic rate. With the "internal furnace" burning stronger, it becomes much easier to maintain our ideal weight.

Another great advantage to a regular resistance training routine, is that our muscles become firmer and stronger. Firm and strong muscles help us to avoid injuries when we pursue various physically oriented hobbies and sports, and this becomes even more important as we age. As many of you out there can agree, there is nothing better than the feeling of strong firm muscles when we are involved in various physical activities.

One thing to remember about resistance training is that it isn't necessary to become the next Mr. or Ms. Olympia to achieve our goal of more muscle tone and strength. While becoming Mr. or Mrs. Olympia may be the goal for a few of us, the majority us just want the flexibility and strength to pursue our hobby and sports interest without getting injured.

Along with developing our muscles, an ample amount of stretching is essential for avoiding injuries during both work and play. As with any physical exercise, proper stretching techniques are important to avoid injuring muscles and ligaments. Fortunately, there are some individuals who have spent a great deal of time developing the proper resistance training and stretching techniques required to keep us active, strong, and fit.

Eating the best foods for optimum health and vitality

In our quest for optimum health, what we eat is very important. While the term "diet" does seem to have some negative connotations with most of us, the simple truth is that what we eat on a regular basis will have either a positive or negative effect on our overall health.

Eating healthy cooked and raw foods actually provides the vital nutrients necessary for boosting our immune systems, which in turns, helps our bodies fight against the many devastating diseases that wreck havoc in today's society.

While diet plans will vary from individual to individual, based on their particular needs at the time, most who spend time studying the subjects of diet and nutrition seem to agree that certain diet basics should be followed for optimum health. Most researchers agree that diets should consist manly of foods high in complex carbohydrates, lesser portions of foods high in proteins, and small amounts of essential fats.

An Abundant and Healthy Life is something we all deserve

I think we can all agree that poor health can really put a damper on living the Abundant Life we all desire and deserve. Due to my own personal goals and desires, optimum health is vital for my own personal success in life.
